Feedback On Short Pieces

Every reader has style preferences. Most feedback (when you can find it) is given from either one of two sources: the editor assigned to read it or the AI engine it’s fed into. We’re different. We add a little good CHI into the mix. With four dedicated editors, the one (and only) thing we can agree on is that we like different writing styles. So, when you send in a sample of your writing or a complete short story (up to 5,000 words), if the editor finds it well-written but it just isn’t their “thang,” you’ll receive a second editor’s opinion as well!
If the writing can use a few pointers, we’ll provide you with a 2-3 page review that includes detailed examples from your work. (No more of those vague, “You need to show more and tell less” responses. If we feel your story needs that, we’ll show you exactly where that is needed in your story, and provide examples of what it actually means.
The cost for this service is only $65. Why? As a nonprofit, our ultimate goal is to help more people find their path to publishing. We believe that art is a part of the human condition. Singing is meant for everyone, not just those few born to be on the top charts. Creating music, crafting stories, dancing… All of this belongs to all of us. But when it comes to writing, there is only one person who can tell your tale the best, and that’s you.
How Does This Work?
1- Fill out the form. 2- Pay the fee. 3- Send an email with the story right in the body of the email. 4- Put “Feedback on Short Piece” in the subject line.

This is a style of coaching and is best done to get a strong gauge of your writing skills.
Sometimes, we just need a little nudge in the right direction or to really see what it looks like to focus on “improving your prose” or “show, don’t tell” that other editors have advised.
